calling all budding poets!

We are proud to announce the launch of a children’s poetry competition, based on the legendary inhabitant of Lake Windermere, the Char Fish with our friends at the Windermere Jetty Museum. 

Budding poets are invited to write a fun and imaginative poem about Char and their companion Krill who - after a long journey from their home in the Arctic - have arrived in the perfectly cold waters of the Lake Windermere.

We would love if the poem explored some of these themes: How did they get there? Who are their neighbours? Do they make any friends? What adventures do they get up to in the Lake? Who do they meet? How do they feel? 

The selected poems will form part of an exhibition launching in 2023. 

All entries must be submitted to anorakmagazine@gmail.com by October 7th 2022.

Prizes include:

• A free copy of Whales edition to ALL participants.

• A 2-year subscription to our Happy Mag for Kids for the winners. 

This competition is open to all children aged 12 and under from anywhere around the world. One entry per child. Winners will be selected and notified by October 14th.
