Last month, we travelled to Milan for a week-long series of workshops and live briefs with the students of Mimaster, an amazing school dedicated to the art of illustration. Run by Ivan Canu and Giacomo Benelli and with special patron the 60s illustrator/animator Libero Gozzini, the school is all about bridging the gap between traditional academic studies and the working world.
We had a lot of fun working with 26 students, chatting about what our Happy Mags stand for, reviewing portfolios, briefing them on how to create covers, how to bring a story to life and inviting them to a live brief for our Summer edition.
You can see some of the work they produced here on our Pinterest page here. Any art directors reading this, please commission these talented people! Or if you are going to Bologna Fair next week, pop by to see them at their Illustration Survival Corner.
A HUGE thank you to Chiara, Giacomo, Ivan and Libero for their warm welcome and for the belly laughs. Follow Mimaster here on Facebook and here on Instagram.
