Anorak,
It’s a close-run thing. It could be ‘Miss Rumphius’, the lupin lady, by Barbara Cooney, for its strangeness and freedom, for its joy in warm climates in the middle of cold ones (the glasshouses at Kew) and especially for its delight in the shapes of lupins. But I think my favourite is ‘The Lighthouse-Keeper’s Lunch’, by Ronda and David Armitage, for their grand drawings of dizzy spaces and for the voices of the Grinlings and their plaguey seagulls. Brilliant writing along with dreamy drawing.
Many thanks for all your magazines!
Sophie
