This lovely collaboration started with a tweet! The Museum of London had serialized the 1919 diary of a 14 year old Londoner called Oscar Kirk. We fell in love with Oscar’s mischievous tone and thought it would be lovely to bring it life with illustrations. We asked the Museum (as well as Oscar's family) whether we could publish and illustrate some of his entries and they kindly accepted.
We picked 11 of the best and funniest entries in his diary and commissioned 11 illustrators to bring each of them to life.
We printed the entries in our FRIENDSHIPS edition and the Museum of London Docklands held an exhibition of the artwork.
We contacted Robert Elms and we were invited on his show (BBC London 94.9) to chat about how this collaboration came to be.
