word play magazine

Created as part of a reading festival organised by travelling bookshop How Brave is the Wren, word play magazine celebrates the written word by encouraging children to have a go at writing.

This magazine is filled with activities and prompts as well as tips from well-known children’s authors and illustrators such as Swapna Haddow, James Campbell, Joshua Seigal, Rob Jones, Alys Fowler, Heidi Griffths, Ally Sherick, Kate Wakeling, Elīna Brasliņa, Sheena Dempsey, Jess Butterworth, Rob Biddulph, Catherine O’Flynn, Veronica Cossanteli, Melissa Castrillón, Onjali Q. Raúf, Pippa Curnick, and Rakhshan Rizwan.

Our tasks involved: organisation all content into a coherent magazine, set the art direction, designed and wrote it.

word play was distributed to children during the eponymous school festival How Brave is the Wren organised in June 2021 in Birmingham. It is also available to download online here.
